Balat Mensucat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş.
Balat Halı traces its origins to the Erkent family, one of the oldest merchant and weaving families in Gaziantep, with a commercial history spanning four generations.
Starting in the 1940s with handmade kilim production, the company expanded in 1961 from a textile workshop into a factory, establishing a yarn dyeing workshop in Istanbul and a weaving workshop in Gaziantep.
The company name was inspired by the Balat district in Istanbul, where the carpet factory was founded in Gaziantep under this name. It operated as a collective company from 1964 and transformed into a joint-stock company in 1983.
Balat Mensucat produces carpets with 50% of its output sold domestically and the other 50% exported to over 20 countries, making it a significant player in both local and international carpet markets.
