Egypt
Canal Sugar
Canal Sugar is Egypt’s largest integrated agri-industrial project since 1952, with a total investment of USD 1 billion. Located in West Minya, the project incorporates the reclamation and cultivation of 181,000 feddans (c.790 km²), along with a sugar beet processing plant with an annual capacity of 5.4 million tons.
The Canal Sugar Factory is the world’s largest single-line sugar beet processing plant, built on 240 feddans, with a production capacity of up to 750,000 tons per year. It employs the latest innovations in sugar manufacturing, many applied for the first time globally. The project contributes to Egypt’s self-sufficiency in sugar and supports the cultivation of strategic crops such as wheat, corn, barley, and alfalfa, using smart agriculture.
